Hi! I’m Amrita,
A Girl Scout from Southern California
For my Girl Scout Gold Award Project, I wanted to help fix an issue that I care deeply about. I started the Gold Award Project as a senior in high school, right as I was starting to apply to colleges. I had applied to multiple schools as a Neuroscience major, hoping to study the biology of the brain. I knew I wanted my project to relate to my passion for neuroscience, so I realized that I could utilize my project to help neurodivergent communities, specifically at my school. I contacted the special-education teacher at my high school with the idea of creating a sensory room. There was a classroom available and once my project was approved by the Girl Scout council, the whole process started. My goal is to spread the importance of sensory rooms, so more schools begin to include them on their campuses.
